WEEPING FOR AMERICA; LOVING GOD!

My fellow Americans, as June 5, 2020 comes to a close my heart is saddened by what I have seen happen to my country in five short months. Our president Donald Trump had worked hard to fulfill his campaign promises. He was “making America great again!” The economy was up, unemployment was down, everything was looking better. Then the pandemic hit. China unleashed a terrible virus on us as well as the entire world. To date, well over 300,000 have perished worldwide with over 100,000 in the United States. But as the country was starting to rebound, as our economy was starting to open up again, another tragedy struck. An African-American man was killed by a police officer in Minnesota and riots started breaking out in many major cities across the country. Pandemonium rained, violence ruled, police officers were targeted and looted and rioting roared down ‘main street’ in many of the largest cities in America. For someone who loves this country as much as I do, this has been a bitter time, and one I pray to never see again. I could go about this subject for hours, but I don’t want to, and you don’t want to hear it. So what I will report about is something that is much more dear to my heart, the Rocky Mountains!

When my brother and I moved to Montana in October 2018, it was with the idea to start over. It had been two years since our mother had passed, and we wanted a change. Loving these mountains as much as we have, it made sense to move to one of the Rocky Mountain states. Montana was highest on our list. We got here too late in 2018 to do much fall-foliage viewing so last year was our first big effort to see some of God’s paintings, up close and personal. Our friend Becky came out at the end of September and we had plans to show her Glacier, Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. But, unfortunately, four feet of snow came with her and that washed out those plans. We did what we could, with small day-trips out of Billings, Montana. We saw part of the Beartooth and Crazy mountain ranges. We went to the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, Wyoming and the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument, in Montana, as well as the Fetterman Battlefield site and Fort Phil Kearny Historic Site in Wyoming.

Becky returned to Tennessee on Wednesday, October 2, of last year, and Doug and I drove west and then south, the next day, to see the Wind River range in Wyoming. Following two days in those magnificent mountains, we spent another two days in the Bighorn Mountains before heading home. This was our last major trip of 2019, and quite possibly the best. Starting tomorrow, I will be posting articles and the photos that go along with them in my blog. I hope you enjoy them. Perhaps they can take your mind off some of the troubles that have been going on around us.
